Dave Smith is an internationally known speaker, trainer, and writer with an extraordinary commitment to the police profession. Dave began his own police career after graduation from the University of Arizona when he joined the Tucson Police Department. In 1978 he took a position with the Arizona State Police. As a police officer, Dave held positions in Patrol, SWAT, Narcotics, & Training. In 1980 he developed the popular "Buck Savage" video training series, was the lead instructor for the Calibre Press "Street Survival" seminars from 1983 to 1985, and helped to develop Calibre's timeless "Tactical Edge" book.
Dave was the Operational Training Commander for the Arizona State Police in 1990 when he joined the Law Enforcement Television Network (now Homeland One) at its inception. When LETN acquired Calibre Press in 1999, Dave once again became the driving force behind the "Street Survival" seminars, teaching officers not only to survive, but also to win confrontations and remain strong & healthy throughout their law enforcement careers.
Now president of Dave Smith & Associates, an Illinois-based training and consulting company, and the lead instructor for the Calibre Press "Street Survival" seminars now owned by Police One, Dave travels throughout the country training and inspiring law enforcement personnel everywhere. Dave has developed hundreds of programs across the spectrum of police & security training needs and regularly authors articles for law enforcement publications including The Police Marksman, Law & Order, Police, Police Chief, Police One.com, and the Calibre Press "Newsline."
